Genealogy Search Engines
Do you remember carrying out computer searches before Google? There were a few tools (such as Dogpile) that gave you the ability to search several sets of records at once. That same idea is now becoming popular in family history.
Remember that the value of any of these is not that they search several places at once but that they be looking at collections of which you are unaware. Always check where the results are coming from and decide if you need to use that particular source more often. Also take care that a particular selection of records to be searched may be geographically-limited (such as mainly north american) and so may not suit your needs at all. |
