Campaign medals
Most Australian servicement from the Great War earned the right to wear one or more campaign or service medals. Which ones they were awarded dependeds on where and when they served.
The website of the Armed Services Assistance Centre gives a good summary of these decorations, which did not depend upon any specific feats of gallantry.

Honours and Awards
Far more prestige is attached to those medals awarded as personal recognition of exceptional conduct assessed against set criteria. The Office of the Governor-General maintains a website Australian Honours and Awards providing a comprehensive coverage of awards both civil and military covering both the Imperial (pre 1975) and Australian (1975-) systems.
Although you can search all awards (civil and military) from that site, a separate database of military Honours and Awards is maintained by the Australian War Memorial.
