The University of Sydney has made available a selection of historic images from its digital collection in the form of free online jigsaws.
Simply go to https://digital.library.sydney.edu.au/nodes/view/7616 and choose the image you like and click the link for the number of pieces you want. (I recommend that you start with a small number of pieces until you get used to the technology.) Ultra-competitive puzzlers can watch the on-screen clock showing how long you have taken. More relaxed researchers can come and go over an extended period.

When you have exhausted the images from the University collection, go directly to https://www.jigsawexplorer.com/online-jigsaw-puzzle-player.html and click the menu at the top left corner to see that you can open any photo on your computer as a custom jigsaw for your personal enjoyment. |
I quite enjoyed re-assembling the portrait of great grandma and her two sisters. It certainly forced me to examine details of clothing and hair styles in a different way and gave a new perspective on an image that I thought I had examined exhaustively. But most all it was fun.
