This proposed project was meant to be announced during our virtual meeting but there were some "hiccups". Members can watch it (approximately 3.5 minutes) here . Then prepare their own contribution by following these instructions.
The main focus of our virtual meeting was on how to search efficiently and effectively in the the new QSA Catalogue. (Note that the former Basic Search facility has been removed.)
The search is located at https://www.archivessearch.qld.gov.au/ even though the main QSA website is still at https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/arts/heritage/archives The most important thing to know is that, although the old (Basic) search operated on the basis of finding "all the words", the default setting now is "any of the words". That means that if you search for multiple terms, you will get hundreds (even thousands) of times the number of results, but most will be irrelevant. Unless you link your search terms with the operator AND as in lighthouse AND moreton. Note that in the demonstration of how impractical it is to find a particular record through sorting and filtering, I should have mentioned that by far the best way to locate an Ecclesiastical (Will) File is by searching the relevant Index not using the catalogue search at all.
